What is Mountain Bar Candy?
Mountain Bar Candy Bars are a chocolate candy bar that has an incredibly rich and silky flavored filling. The bar also contains peanuts that are embedded in the crust of the candy bar.
The candy bars come in three distinct flavors – cherry, vanilla, and peanut butter. The outer layer remains chocolatey for each of these flavors. And we have to be honest, we have always loved the Peanut Butter one the best but all of the flavors are good options!
History of Mountain Bar Candy
The Mountain Bar candy was earlier known as Mount Tacoma Bars. It first came into existence in 1915. It was created by the Brown & Hayley factory, situated in Tacoma, Washington, which is about an hour away from Seattle, Washington.
The original name was replaced in 1923 with the current name. Brown & Hayley made the decision when they started distributing their candies in Seattle. The first flavor to be introduced to the masses was vanilla-centered Mountain Bar candy.
The cherry-centered Mountain Bar candy was incepted after World War II. It was the Cherry Bounce candy bar that was renamed and sold as Cherry Mountain Bar. In 1972, the peanut butter flavor was added to the candy collection.
Mint and Cappuccino flavors briefly hit the shelf in 2010 but were discontinued due to lack of demand.
What is the Taste and Flavor of Mountain Bar Candy like?
There are three flavors of the famous Mountain Bar candies:
Vanilla Mountain Bar: Chocolate crust with peanut embedding and soft vanilla-flavored core. The vanilla flavor is strong, and the bar leaves a sweet aftertaste.
Cherry Mountain Bar: Chocolate crust with peanut embedding and soft cherry-flavored core. It is a perfect combination of chocolate and citrusy flavor. The sweet and tangy flavor leaves a fruity aftertaste.
Peanut Butter Mountain Bar: Chocolate crust with peanut embedding and soft peanut butter-flavored core. The peanut butter core has a hint of salt in it, giving it a slight savory taste. It is balanced well by the outer chocolate layer.
All the flavored bars are crunchy to bite due to peanuts’ presence on the external chocolaty layer. The core is soft and melts easily.
