Personally, I have never heard of this establishment; but it is very popular in Texas. Torchy’s Tacos began in Austin, Texas, with a food truck. Mike Rypka had a dream to make the best tacos around. In the beginning, Mr. Rypka did more experimental recipes than actual recipes. It turns out those experiments ended up being the “best damn tacos” in Austin. Word spread quickly about Torchy’s Tacos.
Torchy’s now has 75 locations, each with its own uniques design, but they all have the same dedication and freshest ingredients and tacos that Mr. Rypka started in the beginning.
Every month they have a “taco of the month” that they promote. They also serve queso, margaritas, and a whole lot more. Torchy’s provides catering services for any type of event or party you have. If you are in the Austin area, they will even use the infamous Torchy food truck.
For those who like to enjoy a refreshing margarita with your tacos, Torchy’s has a variety of fresh-squeezed margaritas on the menu. Torchy’s Paloma, Perfect Patron, Sandia Rita, and The Peg Leg are just a few of their special margaritas. They also offer three signature drinks and a non-alcoholic menu.
At Torchy’s, you can also order Grande Burrito or an airstream salad, chips with queso, guacamole, or salsa, and plenty of kids’ favorites. Torchy’s famous Texas tacos have something that will satisfy your tastebuds for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Torchy’s Regular Menu
Torchy’s Tacos has breakfast options, sides, sweets, drinks, and a kids menu. Enjoy Baja shrimp tacos, fried avocado tacos, or a chicken fajita. Sample a side of refried beans topped with cheese, street corn, or Mexican rice.
Sip on a fountain soda, coffee, tea, or a freshly mixed alcoholic drink. With a vast amount of fresh ingredients, their secret menu is one of the best out there. So, if you live close to a Torchy’s go check it out!!
Torchy’s Secret Menu
Torchy’s Secret Menu – Mad Cow
This is a weird name for a taco, right? Maybe so, but with all the fresh ingredients and the tacos made to order, it is one delicious cow! The flour tortilla is stuffed with fajita beef, grilled corn, jack cheese, black beans and topped off with cilantro and creamy chipotle sauce.
Torchy’s Secret Menu – The Matador
This taco is listed on their “not so secret” secret menu and can be found at www.torchytacos.com/menu/secret-menu. The Matador is a corn tortilla wrapped in a flour tortilla. Inside, you have fresh chopped brisket, pickled onions, jack cheese, avocado, grilled jalapenos, cilantro, and sour cream. You will also receive a side of tomatillo sauce.
Torchy’s Secret Menu – Jack of Clubs
This is a secret menu item that will satisfy your breakfast needs. I love to fix breakfast burritos/tacos for dinner, but they are nowhere near as good as the ones from Torchy’s. Stuffed in a flour tortilla are fried eggs, black beans, shredded cheese, potatoes, crisp corn tortilla strips, sour cream, Torchy’s own Diablo sauce, and cilantro.
Torchy’s Secret Menu – The Hipster
If you enjoy fish tacos, then this is one that you need to try. A flour tortilla is used for this secret menu item and is wrapped around fresh ingredients; panko fried tuna, green chilies, black bean relish, avocado sauce, chopped bacon, cotija cheese, cilantro, and a lime wedge.

Torchy’s Secret Menu – Ace of Spades
If you like meat and you like a little bit of spice, the Ace of Spades will give you both. Grilled brisket, a fried egg, jalapeno sausage link, green chile queso, sour cream, cilantro, cotija cheese, and Diablo sauce all wrapped tightly in a flour tortilla. Top it with a little more of the green chile queso.
Torchy’s Secret Menu – Green Chile Pork Missionary Style
Another not-so-secret, secret menu item. It is one of the top sellers on the secret menu. A large flour tortilla with green chile pork, guacamole, jack cheese, pickled onions, cilantro, and creamy chipotle. This taco is in a corn tortilla inside of the flour tortilla.
Torchy’s Secret Menu – Trailer Park Hillbilly Style
This combines one of my all-time favorite foods, fried chicken, with a variety of fresh ingredients. Chopped bacon, chorizo, green chile queso, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, and green chiles. All on a new, warm tortilla with a side of poblano ranch for an added kick. This secret menu item is also listed on Torchy’s website as a not-so-secret menu item.
Torchy’s Secret Menu – Naughty Santa
This scrumptious taco is on Torchy’s not-so-secret menu. You first cover the tortilla with poblano ranch sauce. Then they will add grilled shrimp, chorizo, jack cheese, avocado, pickled onions, and cilantro.
Torchy’s Secret Menu – Alabama Shake
The old saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” fits the name of this taco. At first glance, you automatically assume that it is a nice cold, refreshing milkshake. But, it is the farthest thing from a milkshake that you can get. Torchy’s uses cornmeal-crusted catfish, peppadew peppers, cilantro, cotija cheese, poblano slaw, avocado sauce, and a lime wedge.
