Bawls Guarana was formed by Hoby Buppert in 1996 in Florida, under the company name Hobarama. Hoby had a business plan of selling coffee alternatives. He knew that Guarana berries contained caffeine in them, and he utilized this fact to the best of his abilities.
He first sold the drink in a Miami nightclub. Following the popularity, in 1998, the company began sponsoring the Cyberathlete Professional League. In 2002, the beverages found a place in retail outlets.
Bawl is an acronym for the Brazilian American Wildlife Society, considering the Guarana berries are a native of Brazil.
