History of Cherryhead Candy
Cherryhead was formerly known as Cherry Chan or Cherry Clan Candy. The name “Cherryhead” was adopted in the 1970s to make it sound similar to Lemonheads.
Cherryheads came into existence in the 1960s, immediately after the Lemonheads. The candy follows the cold-panned production process, similar to the Red Hots (another Ferrara Candy Company product). Ferrara also makes Nerds Candy – another fun favorite of kids everywhere!
The Ferrara Candy Company gave similar names to all its fruit-flavored candies:
- Appleheads (earlier known as Johnny Apple Treats)
- Grapeheads (earlier known as Alexander the Grape)
- Lemonheads (the original name)
- Cherryheads (Cherry Clan/ Cherry Chan).
The company did the renaming somewhere between the 1980s and late 1990s.
