What are Ice Cube Candies?
The Ice Cube candies are iced chocolate-flavored cuboidal-shaped candies that are manufactured in Germany. They are individually wrapped and sold in bulk, or you can usually buy them individually at a gas station convenience store. The Ice Cube candies are perfect for serving during informal and formal gatherings as a refreshment, especially for people who like chocolate but will protest if you ask them if they want a “dessert” – and we know that you know what we mean!
The Ice Cube candies have a unique mouth feel. They literally MELT in your mouth, hence the name! The reason for this is because they contain coconut oil which liquifies at a lower temperature. And they are high in saturated fat as a result. One Ice Cube candy covers 22% of your daily saturated fat intake. Oh and pro tip – order a whole bunch of them and store them in the freezer. Then you will always have them available!
Another candy that is also excellent if you store them in the freezer are Junior Mints Candy.
History of Ice Cubes Candy
Ice Cube candies first came into existence around the mid-1930s. A company called Nappo & Moritz made them in Germany. They still make it and sell it to the rest of the world.
In the United States, the candies are sold by R.L. Albert & Son Inc. They are the sole importers of the Ice Cube candy. And one thing that is funny about the candy is that the name is plural so people often refer to them as “Ice Cube Candy” instead of “Ice Cubes Candy.” It’s weird when you think about it because cubes is plural but cube is singular so it is grammatically incorrect to say you want one ice cubes candy and that’s why people often say they want an ice cube candy (singular). Most people have probably never noticed this but we think it’s funny and unique to this candy.
What is the Taste and Flavor of Ice Cube Candy like?
The Ice Cube candies are soft to bite. They are cuboidal chocolatey treats that leave a cooling effect in your mouth when you continue chewing. The cooling effect is the result of the presence of hydrogenated coconut oil. The oil has a melting point of 76 degrees Fahrenheit. so it melts on your tongue and it’s very much like putting a chocolate ice cube in your mouth.
The texture of the candy is a bit grainy. The moment you bite into the candy, it starts melting on your tongue, and you feel a tingling sensation. The flavor is nutty, and you get a feel of milkiness with a hint of hazelnut and a smooth cocoa climax once you are done swallowing the candy.
What are the ingredients in Ice Cube candy?
The ingredients in Ice Cube candy are sugar, low-fat cocoa, partially hydrogenated coconut oil, soy flour, dried sweet whey, soy lecithin, hazelnut paste, and artificial vanilla flavor.
