What are Tangy Tarts?

Tangy Tarts are the perfect candy if you like something that is a little bit tangy, but not too sour. The Tangy Tarts candies have a pleasant pastel shade and a funky UFO-Like Shape. (Note: If you want a larger UFO shaped candy that makes a sound, be sure to check out our Satellite Wafers review).

These candies are sold in bulk. A one-pound bag contains approximately 220 pieces. Each bag contains a mix of different flavors like orange, pineapple, cherry, lime, lemon, and Grape. Tangy Tarts are even used as cake and other dessert toppings (milkshakes, ice creams, etc.).

History of Tangy Tarts

Concord Confections owns and manufactures Tangy Tarts. The company was was founded in 1986 in Concord, Ontario. Within a few years, the company became one of the biggest producers of candies and bubble gums in the region. 

In 1998, Concord Confections acquired the famous “Double Bubble” pink bubble gum brand. It became one of the flagship products of the company.

In 2002, the company expanded its reach and held on the market by acquiring Wax Candy Division. Their products included Nik-L-Nips, Wax Lips, and Wax Fangs.

In 2003, Concord Confections added the Philadelphia Chewing Gum Corporation under its portfolio. 

Tootsie Roll Industries acquired Concord Confections in August 2004. Concord’s candies are sold in more than 60 countries worldwide.

What is the taste and flavor of Tangy Tarts like?

Tangy Tarts are small hard candies. So you either have to grab a bunch and chew them or put one in your mouth and let it dissolve on your tongue. Overall the flavor is very similar to Sweet Tarts Candy but they are slightly larger with a powerful sour fruit punch. The flavor is extremely fruity and tangy. You are left with a pleasantly sweet aftertaste and a colorful tongue.

The candy texture is smooth with a mild level of sourness.

Excessive consumption of Tangy Tarts candies may lead to enamel and inner cheek damage. Since the candies are hard and bite-sized, they could be a choking hazard for young kids. Parental supervision is advised of course.
