The Everlasting Gobstopper is a spherical candy consisting of multiple layers. Each layer is of different color and flavor. The candy was inspired by the novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
The candy was described as having discrete layers that change effects as each layer unfolds in the book. The actual candy also functions similarly.
The candy is a major hit amongst children due to its long durability in the mouth. The multiple layers take a very long time to dissolve completely.
History of Everlasting Gobstopper Candy
Everlasting Gobstopper is a candy inspired by the children’s novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” written by Roald Dahl in 1964.
The candy was introduced to the masses in 1976. Breaker Confections, a Chicago-based candy company, was behind the inception. Breaker Confections purchased the license for the “Willy Wonka” name in 1971. They wanted to have to merchandise tie-up with the movie “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.”
Later, in 1988, Nestle purchased the Willy Wonka Candy Company. Presently, Gobstopper is owned by Nestle.
What is the Taste and Flavor of Everlasting Gobstopper Candy like?
The candy contains various discrete layers of flavors and colors. They are available in different flavor combinations. The center of the candy is chalky in texture and is usually cherry-flavored.
