History of Warheads Candy
Warheads were earlier known as Mega Warheads. The candy was first incorporated in Taiwan in 1975. The Foreign Candy Company imported the Warheads (located in Hulls, Iowa) candy to the US in 1993 for the first time.
Impact Confections acquired the Foreign Candy Company in 2004. They took over the production and distribution of Warheads Candy in the United States.
Warheads were labeled as the “$40 million brand” in 1999. It was quite popular amongst children during that time.
Impact Confections are the current manufactures of Warheads candy, and they are situated in Janesville, Wisconsin. Universal Candy is the sole distributor of the candy in Australia.
What is the Flavor and Taste of Warheads Candy like?
The Warheads candy has an intensely sour flavor. The extreme sourness is due to the presence of malic acid in the ingredients. The sour effect lifts off within 5-10 seconds, and you are left with a pleasant sweet taste afterward. The challenge is withstanding the sour effect.
The Warheads hard candies are five flavors: lemon, watermelon, blue raspberry, green apple, and black cherry.
The Smashups Extreme Sour mix contains five additional flavors: strawberry-grape, orange-pineapple, lemon-berry, mango-melon, and cherry-lime.
A word of caution: When you consume sour candies in large quantities, your teeth’ enamel can get damaged faster due to the presence of high acidic content. It is always a good idea to brush your tooth soon after eating the extreme sour candy.
