Are you craving a taste of chocolate with a minty peppermint inside? If so, the York Peppermint Pattie is the ultimate option for you. It is a dark chocolate pattie that melts in your mouth as soon as you bite into it. It is a peppermint confection that was introduced in 1940 and is currently manufactured by the Hershey Company.
The candy features powerful flavors of its ingredients, as well as dark chocolate, and it is considered one of the classics of the United States.
And my personal suggestion – buy a bag of these and keep some frozen in the freezer! This magnifies the cool and mint sensation. You will always have one available and will love them frozen!
When Was The York Peppermint Patty Invented?
Until York Cone Company was established 20 years ago, no product approximating the peppermint pattie was produced. It was brought to the corporation in Pennsylvania by Henry Kessler in 1940.
Peter Paul purchased the company in 1972. He was the one who brought this candy to the market on a national scale. ‘Get the Sensation,’ his renowned Peppermint Candy phrase, is still used today.
In the later phase of 1978, the company was merged with Cadbury, and finally, in 1988, York Cone Company was signed by The Hershey Foods Corporation. The manufacturing of this candy was in Pennsylvania until 2008, but the production was shifted to Mexico. It continues to be produced in Mexico.
