Popeyes first introduced the surf and turf combo in 2013. They added Cajun Surf & Turf on the menu to offer their customers a combination of shrimp and chicken goodness. People loved the Cajun flavor representing Louisiana’s combination of Southern and French cuisines. Most customers asked that the chain restaurant continue, but it was only offered for a limited time.
Over the years, Popeyes has brought back the Surf and Turf combo for limited durations to increase sales and keep their customers happy. Previous variations of this combo meal were Cajun or Louisiana style, but in 2016, they tested their Hushpuppy Butterfly Shrimp recipe with this combo, which was an instant hit!
The Popeyes Hushpuppy Shrimp Surf & Turf Combo came back on the menu in 2022. It’s a limited-time offer with Hushpuppy shrimps, chicken tender/ chicken sandwich, and dipping sauce(s).

This Popeyes combo meal gets you four pieces of Hushpuppy Shrimp, two pieces of Chicken Tenders, two sauces, a biscuit, a drink, and regular Cajun fries.
The Hushpuppy Butterfly Shrimp is marinated in Louisiana seasonings, dipped in cornmeal hushpuppy batter, and fried to perfection before serving. Tenders are marinated in Popeyes special seasoning and are handcrafted. Popeyes biscuits are traditional treats—they’re buttery, salty, and flaky.

The other Surf & Turf combo is the Classic Chicken Sandwich with four pieces of Hushpuppy Shrimp and one Cocktail sauce. You can also add a drink and Fries to this combo meal.
The Hushpuppy Butterfly Shrimp is the same as Popeye Surf & Turf Tenders. The chicken sandwich is a signature item with a chicken piece marinated in buttermilk and spices. It’s battered in a mixture of flour, corn starch, and spices before frying. The spices make the crust super crispy.
