McDonald’s is one of the most popular fast food restaurants in the world as you probably already know. History of McDonald’s McDouble
The McDouble has been around more than two decades – having been introduced in 1997. At the time, its advertisement featured “Eddie the Echo.” Initially this was a hamburger not a cheeseburger and it was not originally offered with cheese.

When the bacon McDouble came along, its price was $2. In November 2013, it became part of the U.S. “Dollar Menu & More.” At one point, the McDouble had been removed from the McDonald’s menu. However, it was reintroduced in 2008.
The McDouble remains popular for being one of the cheapest things on the McDonald’s menu and one of the best values, especially if you are short on money. It is similar to a Big Mac, but a lot cheaper, so it’s an incredible value, especially if you are short on money!
What is a McDouble?
A McDouble is a burger that is in between a single and a double cheeseburger. Specifically, it has one more patty than a regular cheeseburger. So it has two meat patties. But it only has one slice of cheese that is in the middle of the two patties, so it has less cheese than the McDonald’s double cheeseburger that has 2 slices of cheese.
The pair of beef patties are seasoned with pepper and salt only. The topping includes mustard, standard ketchup, a slice of American cheese, crunchy onions, and salty pickles.
If you order the bacon McDouble, it has something extra: the Applewood bacon, usually smoked to give the burger a pleasant taste.
