Snickers Candy History

In 1930, Frank Mars, the founder of Mars Company, introduced the Snickers bar. Snickers was actually the name of one of Frank’s favorite horses – and it served as the inspiration for the candy bar name.

Previously the bar was sold as ‘Marathon’ in the United Kingdom and Ireland until 1990; due to lack of demand, The Marathon Bar’s production was ceased, and it was reintroduced as Snicker.

Snickers is a popular chocolate energy bar manufactured by the famous Mars Company of America, which consists of nougat covered with caramel and peanuts and swathed in milk chocolate.

It is one of the most well known and popular candy bars in the world! For me personally it was my childhood favorite. It’s quite sweet but has a great combination of flavors and textures and is loved by kids worldwide!

How Are Snickers Bar Manufactured?

Snickers have a peanut butter nougat foundation with a coating of caramelized roasted peanuts on top. The entire item is covered in chocolate and wrapped in a brown wrapper. Each Snickers Bar has exactly 15 peanuts in it.

The nougat used in it comprises whipped egg white, corn syrup, sugar, and adequate salt. There is also peanut butter added to it.

The nougat is then piped out onto a roller and flattened to the thickness required for the bar’s base. It is then cooled, topped with a thicker caramel layer, then covered with caramel and peanuts.

The bars are sliced into the right size in the next step, followed by a drenching of chocolate. The peculiar chocolate squiggle on top is made by a small metal item.

After passing through human quality inspection, the final step is packaging the bars so they can be put in boxes and shipped to retail stores.
