If you’re a sour candy lover, then chances are that you’ve heard of the name Toxic Waste. Toxic Waste is a brand that needs no introduction in the realm of sour candies. Over the years, many extreme and unique sweets have been released under this name, but recently Toxic Waste once again became the talk of the town when they introduced their Slime Licker sour candy.
This sweet comes in a strange-looking packaging that resembles a roll-on deodorant bottle.
Liquefied flavored sour juice is present at the bottom, while a sugar coated roller-like ball is present on the top; when the sugar ball is rolled or licked, the intense sour juice flows through.
Soon after its release, the candy blew up on TikTok and became a viral trend. Many influencers, celebrities, and YouTube channels took part in the Toxic Waste Sour Challenge hashtag and shared their reviews on this unique product. Due to its massive popularity, getting hands on the slime licker candy has been a challenging task.
History of Toxic Waste Slime Licker
Toxic Waste is a line of extreme sour candies manufactured by an American-owned business named Candy Dynamics Inc. It is accessible in the USA, Canada, Ireland, and the UK, but it’s pretty limited outside these parts of the world.
The goal was to bring people a candy that packed more sour flavor than any other in the market, and that’s precisely what Candy Dynamics achieved. Toxic Waste is ten times sourer, if not more than your conventional warheads. Unlike most candies that only have a sour coating, Toxic Waste has added powder to the interior, making them sour all the way through.
The brand was first launched in 2007 and since then has been going strong. Their first and perhaps most famous product was the Toxic Waste Drums. A bunch of sixteen candies in multiple flavors came packed in a can shaped like a barrel of toxic waste covered in slime leaking from the top.
After the success of Toxic Waste Barrels, Candy Dynamics launched several more candies, most of which have been discontinued.
Finally, with the release of Slime Licker, Toxic Waste once again made its way back to American store shelves. These fun, bright red and blue bottles featuring Mr. Toxie Head can attract anyone’s attention.
Mr. Toxie is a human mushroom cloud that uses his ultra-super powers to fight against evil. Professor Sauernoggin created him to fight his arch-enemy Dr. Igor Smog – an industrialist who does heavy manufacturing and has contributed to tons of toxic waste on the planet.
Originally slime licker candy was released in two flavors Blue Razz and Red Strawberry. Each re-sealable bottle comes with two ounces of super sour liquid covered by a roll-on-your-tongue applicator.
Slime Licker has been the subject of one of the biggest trends featuring a candy TikTok has ever seen. With everyone wanting to participate in the super sour challenge, these bottles sold out in a matter of minutes, so much so that stores now have them on backorder.
The Slime Licker franchise is a massive success, and even today, the popularity of this candy is on the rise. From kids to adults, everyone who has tried Slime Licker has appreciated its unique taste.
Candy Dynamics recently collaborated with a famous American cosmetic brand TastebeautyNYC to release Slime Licker Humongous Lip Balms.
How Does Slime Licker Taste?
Slime Licker Rolling Candy’s taste is relatively mild compared to other toxic waste products. It has a semi-sour taste with a subtle sweet undertone that makes the candy less in your face. Blue Razz packs more of a punch and is on the sour side of the two flavors.
Candy Dynamics has released two new mystery bottles, the flavors of which are currently unknown. The bottles come in shades of purple and green, making us wonder if the flavors are grape and green apple, respectively.
The taste is very sour. They are not the most sour candy in the world but they are quite sour. Plus the roll-on package is a fun package that closes for re-use. We definitely recommend trying them out!
Overall, this is one of the most fun candies I have tried in the last year. Personally I always love trying new sour candies. The cool roll-on bottle makes for a fun and unique experience. The kids that have tried it, LOVED it. It feels a little devious and because it comes in a sealable container, it is easy to carry around all day.
