What are Coffee Nips?
Coffee Nips are hard candies that are rich in flavor and creamy in texture. Unlike other hard sugar candies, they are enriched with milk-based caramel. The presence of milk-based ingredients makes the overall texture of the candy very smooth. You can find the Nips candies in two forms: soft-centered and solid candies. People of all age groups like the Coffee Nips candy.
I remember when I was growing up that my grandmother ALWAYS had a bunch of these in her candy dish! There are very few coffee flavored hard candies and Coffee Nips are the most popular one. So if you love coffee and you love hard candies to suck on, these are a great option for you!
History of Coffee Nips
Nips came into existence in the 1920s. The Pearson Candy Company initially manufactured it. The candy was initially called the Pearson Coffee Nip. The curators behind the candy are Claude Barnett and Dan Pearson and they were manufactured in Culver City, California which is in Los Angeles.
The idea was to introduce a candy that people would enjoy during their coffee breaks. A mixture of highly cooked caramel and coffee gave birth to the Coffee Nips candies. The original wrapper color was coffee brown.
In 1989, Nestle bought Nips. The name “Pearson” was discontinued in Fall 2000.
What is the flavor and taste of Coffee Nips Candy like?
The original Coffee Nips candies have a very creamy and smooth texture. The candies are hard and take some time to dissolve completely in your mouth. With every swirl of the tongue around the candy, you experience a blast of flavor mixed with the satisfaction of a good snack.
There are three other flavors apart from the original coffee ones. All of them have milk-based ingredients, making them super creamy and rich in flavor.
