History of Frute Brute Cereal

The Frute Brute Cereal was introduced so that it could join Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo Berry in the 1974 launch of all of these cereals. After being on the shelves for some time, it was discontinued in the year 1982, and in its place, Fruity Mummy Yummy was launched.

While all the figures were continued, in 1992, Fruity Mummy Yummy was discontinued as well. In 2021, the Monster Cereal Lineup started to be sold season-wise. It was mainly available in the markets to cover the period of Halloween.

When we are talking about the Frute Brute, we will experience a frosted cereal that has a fruity flavor. The mascot of the Frute Brute Cereal was a werewolf. The cereal consisted of lime-flavored marshmallows that gave it a fantastic taste. After it was launched again, one more addition was made, and the Frute Brute Cereal also included cherry-flavored cereal with marshmallows.

The cereal did not make any significant impression on the masses. Hence, it was again discontinued in 2014. By that time, the werewolf was not really that popular mascot as compared to a Dracula or vampires.

Frute Brute’s Tagline

When we talk about the tagline used by the cereal, it was: The Howling Good Taste Of Food.

The howling was referring to the werewolf mascot that was on the box of the cereal. The cereal was a cartoon version of a werewolf.

One thing that might have caused problems when it came to selling the cereal was probably the flavor.

Frute Brute – Why is it Less Popular?

While most cereals offered strawberry or chocolate milk at the end, Fruit Brute Cereal left behind lime-flavored milk, which was not commonly accepted by the people.

Also, the werewolf mascot was not culturally accepted as it did not connect to the people and did not boost any sales. The chocolate and strawberry flavors have been known to connect well with people more than any other flavor. This was the reason why other cereals were more of a hit as compared to Frute Brute.

Even after relaunching Frute Brute Cereal, the cereal has not been that well received.
