In 1958, the first International House of Pancakes (IHOP) opened in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California. After fifteen years of being in business, a marketing campaign created the acronym IHOP, which continues to be used today. In 1992 the 500th IHOP opened its doors and in 2001 the 1,000th restaurant was opened. In 2007 the IHOP Corporation successfully purchased Applebee’s International, Inc. This added 3,300 restaurants, creating the world’s largest full-service restaurant company!
IHOP is known for their incredible buttermilk pancakes that you can order of the day, along with a wide variety of other breakfast dishes. You can also order an array of lunch and dinner favorites. As of 2015, the total number of IHOP establishments stood at 1,650. Not only in all fifty states but also, the District of Columbia, Canada, Dubai, Guatemala, Mexico, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Puerto Rico.

My Favorite IHOP Menu Items
Create Your Own Pancake Combo
Let’s start off our menu with IHops, world famous buttermilk pancakes. There are so many combinations for this breakfast, you are going to have a troublesome time choosing what to have. You get your choice of pancakes, your style of egg, bacon or sausage, and hash browns. This is a huge favorite at IHop because of the choices they offer (and because it includes pancakes).
When you place your order for the Create Your Own Pancake Combo, you have the choice of pancake flavors; buttermilk chocolate chip, chocolate chocolate chip, cupcake pancakes, double blueberry, harvest grain ‘n nut, Mexican Tres Leches, New York cheesecake, original buttermilk, or strawberry banana pancakes. You get two pancakes along with two eggs cooked the way you like them. You also get a choice between two bacon strips, two sausages, or two strips of turkey bacon. Don’t forget the choice of crispy or regular hash browns. This delicious breakfast is 100% customizable.

Southwest Chicken Burrito & Bowl
With this IHop favorite, you get a choice of a burrito or a bowl, making it the perfect lunch or light dinner option. You will also receive IHop salsa and your choice of a side dish. This delicious creation gives you a wide variety of choices to put into your burrito or bowl. The bowl/burrito is packed full of flavor and you will leave satisfied and full.
The Southwest Chicken Burrito & Bowl comes with your choice of egg whites or scrambled eggs. You also receive; hickory-smoked bacon pieces, green peppers, onions, tomatoes, queso sauce, shredded Jack and Cheddar cheese, avocado, and hash browns all wrapped in a warm flour tortilla or prepared in a bowl. You are more than welcome to eliminate any of the ingredients that you are not fond of. With this breakfast/lunch you also get to choose a side dish. Your options are; toast, french fries, fresh fruit, hash browns, or buttermilk pancakes. An amazing meal made to fill you up.
Spicy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich
We are going to look at an incredible lunch dish (which you could also have for dinner). If you like spicy food, then this sandwich is the perfect option for you. Fill your mouth with spice, crunch, and creamy to give your taste buds an array of flavors. You will receive such a variety of flavors and textures that your tastebuds will be in absolute awe. This hand-crafted sandwich comes with your choice of side and you can add avocado for a small, extra charge.
They prepared the Spicy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with a Brioche bun. In between the two buns you have; an all-natural Buttermilk crispy chicken breast covered in Frank’s RedHot Buffalo sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and buttermilk ranch dressing. Again, subtract anything that your taste buds are not fond of. Next, choose your side; french fries, fresh fruit, onion rings, side salad, or two buttermilk pancakes. Wash it down with your favorite IHop beverage for the perfect lunch experience.

Cheesy Chicken Bacon Ranch
Let’s look at one of IHop’s scrumptious dinner entrees. Another amazing creation loaded with flavor. Cheese, chicken, and ranch dressing all melded together to give you the perfect meal to end a busy day. Not to mention; those three things go together like peanut butter and jelly. It will give your tastebuds a variety of flavors, making it hard to decide which part of the dish is the best.
For the Cheesy Chicken Bacon Ranch choose from either two crispy chicken breasts or two grilled chicken breasts, lay upon a serving of IHop’s rice medley. On top of the chicken breasts; white cheese sauce, shredded Jack and Cheddar cheese, diced hickory-smoked bacon, and freshly diced tomatoes. You will receive a side of buttermilk ranch which you can drizzle over the top of this amazing dish. Choose two buttermilk pancakes or a side salad for your side dish. Don’t forget the ice cold glass of milk!

Cowboy BBQ
How about a monstrous burger for lunch/dinner? This is for those enormous appetites only! The best part about this enormous meal; you get to choose the meat that you want. What are your tastebuds craving today? As with all IHop’s magnificent creations, you are free to eliminate anything that your taste buds are not fond of.
The Cowboy BBQ is your choice of; 100% USDA Choice Angus Beef, Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Breast, or a Seasoned Grilled Chicken Breast. Between the two buns; bbq sauce, lettuce, tomato, your meat choice, more bbq sauce, two giant onion rings, and a little more bbq sauce. Then you get to choose a side to go with it. French fries, onion rings, side salad, fresh fruit, or two buttermilk pancakes. After eating this gigantic meal, all you are going to want to do is take a nice long nap!
