Perkins Restaurant and Bakery (referred to as Perkins) was founded in 1958. When the first Perkins opened in Ohio, it was mainly a pancake house. But as the years developed, so did Perkins. Now it is the leading family restaurant in the nation with almost 300 locations and a focus on wholesome, home style cooking!
There are 32 locations throughout the United States and 2 in Canada. Perkins is one of my all time favorite places to eat, but since moving down South, I can not find one that isn’t over two hours away.
Perkins Restaurant not only serve breakfast all day long; they also have delectable bakery items for sale. You can choose from other menu items as well including: juicy burgers, soups, salads, grilled salmon, and much more. Not only does Perkins have mammoth muffins but they also have amazing pies, soft cookies, and delicious brownies. Perkins has a kid’s menu with all the childhood favorites; rainbow pancakes, macaroni and cheese, chicken strips, and more.

Our Favorite Menu Items on the Perkins Menu
Let’s look at the Top 5 Menu Items from Perkins. With the menu items below, there is always the option to substitute things or to add things to your meal at an additional cost. Perkins is always willing to accommodate their patrons in any way that they need.
Big Country Sunrise Skillet
They packed this hearty breakfast full of flavor. The perfect breakfast when you have a long, busy day ahead of you. They made the Big Country Sunrise Skillet with; Applewood smoked bacon, pork sausage, American cheese, gravy, and two eggs. They pile all of this on top of crispy tots. I love me some over-easy eggs on top of any kind of potato.
When you order the Big Country Sunrise Skillet, you will get to choose how you wish to have your eggs prepared, your choice of beverage, you can add extra gravy for an additional charge, or you can ask them to leave the gravy off. If you have an extra enormous appetite, you can also add more breakfast meat, for an additional fee. With the Big Country Sunrise Skillet, for a small charge, you can also receive toast, buttermilk pancakes, or a muffin.
Tremendous Twelve
Another hearty breakfast dish that is a favorite at Perkins. It is the Tremendous Twelve. This is an enormous breakfast for a seriously hungry person or for you and your significant other to share. Perkins will serve you; four buttermilk pancakes, breakfast potatoes or hash browns, Applewood smoked bacon or sausage patties/links, and three eggs.
You also get a beverage to quench that early morning/evening thirst. There is no law that says that you can only have breakfast in the morning. Make sure you are overly hungry when you order the Tremendous Twelve or bring someone to help you eat it.
Choose your favorite style of egg (scramble, over-easy, poached, hard-boiled, etc.). Then you get to choose between four sausage patties or links or strips of Applewood smoked bacon. Next, choose your potato; hash browns, crispy tots, or breakfast potatoes. You also get the option to have the four buttermilk pancakes, choice of toast, muffin, or homemade biscuit. Top it off with your favorite breakfast beverage.
Pot Roast Stroganoff
Here is one menu item from Perkins for those of us who absolutely love our pasta. Creamy, savory, and just plain delicious. They prepare pot Roast Stroganoff with braised beef, egg noodles, onions, and button mushrooms. Cooked in an outstanding cream sauce and drizzled with sour cream. I would ask if they had anything that resembled garlic bread. I love some garlic bread with almost every type of pasta.
Pot Roast Stroganoff smells amazing and tastes even better. At Perkins, you have the option to omit the onion, button mushroom, or the sour cream if you wish. For an extra charge you can add a fresh salad or a cup of soup to your meal. Personally, I would order the Pot Roast Stroganoff without onions and I would add the fresh salad with ranch dressing. A nice tall glass of Dr. Pepper or milk, and a slice of chocolate silk pie for dessert.

Homemade Meatloaf
If you or your spouse is more of a meat and potatoes kind of person, then the Homemade Meatloaf will hit the spot. This meal is absolutely delicious! Pair it with your favorite drink and maybe top it off with your favorite slice of Perkins pie. Your taste buds will thank you!.
The sweet-glazed meatloaf is put atop real homemade mashed potatoes and topped with savory gravy and crispy onions. Can you really say that this Homemade Meatloaf doesn’t sound absolutely delicious? Add a dinner side; grill asparagus, fresh broccoli, green beans w/bacon, french fries, crispy tots, or more real potatoes and gravy. I’m getting hungry just writing this text!

Potato Pancake Platter
If you are not super hungry or you are trying to cut down on calories or portions, maybe even trying to eat healthier, then you should try the Potato Pancake Platter. It is a new item at Perkins and it is already a favorite. With only 700 calories, it is a perfect breakfast after your brisk morning walk or yoga class. You can choose to have three potato pancakes and a side of applesauce, or you can customize the meal.
To customize the Potato Pancake Platter you can add your favorite style of egg, choice of breakfast meat, and with or without powdered sugar lightly dusted on the Potato cakes. Add a cup of coffee, a glass of milk or orange juice and it makes for a great, healthy start to your busy day or weekend.

At Perkins Restaurant and Bakery you have so many delicious options that sometimes it is extremely hard to choose what you are going to have, no matter what time of day you visit. Perkins is great about having the perfect pies for any occasion.
If you don’t feel like making them during the holiday season, give your local Perkins a call and place an order for the pies you need. Their monstrous muffins are absolutely amazing. I almost can not eat one all by myself, that is how big they are. Perkins has all around delicious food, wonderful employees and their pricing and service is exceptional.
