Do you love IHOP and want to know about their secret menu items that make the menu even tastier? If so, read on…
IHOP is known for their scrumptious buttermilk pancakes. In 1958, when the first one was opened in Los Angeles, it was first established as the International House of Pancakes.
In 1978 they began using the acronym IHOP, and that is what everyone knows them as. You can enjoy a delicious breakfast at any time of the day. In 1992 the 500th iHop was open for business, and by 1993 each iHop restaurant was averaging over one million dollars in sales per year. In 2001, the franchise opened its 1,000th location which was in Utah.
After over sixty years in business, IHOP is still going strong. We still know them for their wonderful pancakes, but they have a full menu; overflowing with amazing food that will satisfy your taste buds. iHop serves; omelettes, burritos, Belgian waffles, steak burgers, chicken sandwiches, appetizers, salads, and much more. With as many delicious options and combinations, you know there is a “secret-menu” out there.
Today, we are going to explore the secret (or not so secret) menu. iHop’s secret menu is a little strange and not at all what you think it will be.
Our Favorite IHOP Secret Menu Items
It disappointed patrons when iHop removed Cinn-A-Stacks from the regular menu. But have no fear, you can still order the delicious item. The cinnamon spread that is used on the Cinn-A-Stack is the same spread that is used for their Cinnamon Swirl French Toast.

Take care of your Cinn-A-Stack craving by ordering iHop’s buttermilk pancakes with the cinnamon spread. As long as the server and the cook are familiar with the recipe, they can create specialty item.

Warm Syrup Hack
What is better than butter and syrup on your stack of iHop pancakes? Whipped cream? Strawberries? Mixed Berries? How about nice warm syrup? The easiest secret menu item on the list! As your server to warm up your favorite flavor of iHop syrup. It’s that easy, and really no secret.
A not so secret, secret menu item; the kids’ menu. Yes, it says it is for ages 12 and under, but they will not stop you from ordering off of the kids’ menu. Sometimes you are just not overly hungry and you want a smaller portion of food. Maybe you want to relive your childhood and have one of your favorites. Be a kid again and order the Funny Face pancake combo or maybe a jr. chicken strip dinner! Enjoy the foods you absolutely loved as a kid!
Onion and French Fry Omelet
How about a new twist on breakfast and lunch; together? I do not know how many times I have visited a similar style of restaurant; one that serves breakfast anytime, and couldn’t decide if I want breakfast or lunch. Well, on iHop’s secret menu, you can have breakfast and lunch together; with a twist. Order the onion and french fry omelet. A little salty, crunchy, and unique.
A fluffy omelet with onion and french fries tucked inside. Potato and eggs are like peanut butter and jelly; they have always been an impressive combination. Take it a step further and add ham or bacon. Just talking about it is making my mouth water!

Spinach and Asparagus Risotto
Let us now take a trip to Italy with the next secret menu item from iHop. Spinach and Asparagus Risotto. Definitely not a dish you would expect from an establishment that is famous for its buttermilk pancakes. The Risotto is a healthy alternative. They cook it in lemon broth! A tasty treat for Italian food lovers.
Patagonian Prawn Ceviche
Seafood! Who doesn’t love seafood, at least, occasionally? With this secret menu item, you will need to call iHop about four hours ahead of time, to place your order. Another extremely unique secret menu item from a pancake house. Order as an appetizer or as a main dish.
Ceviche is fresh fish or shrimp cooked in lime (or lemon) juice with other spices, such as; chili peppers, onions, salt, and coriander.
For all of those Philly cheese steak lovers out there, here is a new twist from iHop’s secret menu; steak tartare. Traditionally steak tartare is made with raw beef that is chopped by hand. They then served it with onions, peppers, capers, Worcestershire sauce, and other tasty seasonings.
At IHOP, they season the steak tartare with onions, capers, and egg yolks. They prepare it similar to their Philly cheese steak. When ordering this scrumptious dish, simply ask for their tartare preparation of their Philly cheese steak.

In easy terms, this is a pear and blue cheese souffle. Yet another secret menu item that doesn’t fit with iHop. If you want something besides delicious buttermilk pancakes, omelettes, or burgers; take a chance with the Roquefort Pear Souffle.
Red Velvet White Chocolate Cheesecake Macaroons
Yum! Yum! The final secret menu item from iHop is the most tempting and tasty. Red Velvet White Chocolate Cheesecake Macaroons. No matter what you choose to have for lunch or dinner (even breakfast), these are the perfect ending to your meal.
