Who doesn’t love waffles, eggs, and bacon? Avondale Estates, GA. is where the first Waffle House was built. From the beginning, the Waffle House has been open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Short of a natural disaster that takes out a Waffle House, they will not be changing their hours of operation anytime soon. The Proprietors of the Waffle House were neighbors in 1955 and they decided they wanted to bring delicious food to their family, friends, and neighbors. There are now over 2,000 Waffle House locations in 25 states and they have over 40,000 employees.
Since 1995, the Waffle House has served over 765,000,000 cups of coffee and over a billion waffles. Every year they go through 85 million strips of bacon, which is over 25,000 miles if you lay them end to end. They also go through 124 million waffles and 10 Million chicken breasts. The amount of coffee that the Waffle House serves in 1 year could almost fill 8 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
The Waffle House is famous, of course, for its waffles. But, they do have a lot of other amazing foods on their menu. 100% Angus beef burgers, classic dinners served with hashbrowns, sides, dessert, and more. With the vast array of available ingredients, their secret menu is beyond delicious. This is because their secret menu is not so secret. At the Waffle House, the secret menu is limitless, so we are going to see how creative we can be! There are 2 items on a ‘secret menu’ and the rest of the secret menu is based on your creation and imagination.
Our Favorite Waffle House Secret Menu Items
Waffle House Secret Menu – Apple Cinnamon Waffles
There are select Waffle House locations that can prepare you these delectable Apple Cinnamon Waffles. They are sweet, filling, and would go perfectly with a side of bacon, sausage, or ham and a glass of orange juice.
Waffle House Secret Menu – Double D’s
Hashbrowns and eggs go hand in hand. Adding sausage, bacon, or an order of pork chops will make the Double D even more delicious. The pair of hashbrowns is topped with two, sunny side up, eggs and is great as a stand-alone dish. But even better with a side of meat.
Now, here comes the fun part. Because there are only 2 official items on the Waffle House Secret Menu, we get to create our own secret menu items!
You can order and combine anything you want from the regular menu at the Waffle House. One of their frequent customers came up with an amazing breakfast sandwich; egg, cheese, and sausage on toasted raisin bread. A unique, yet delicious, creation.
I am going to go through the Waffle House menu and come up with some scrumptious things for you to try the next time you visit a Waffle House in your area. You can try one of the following ideas or you can come up with one of your own Waffle House creations.
Chicken Bacon Ranch Biscuit
The Waffle House offers many breakfast sandwiches on biscuits; sausage, egg, and cheese and bacon, egg, and cheese. They also have ham, egg, and cheese, and a chicken biscuit among others. Why not go for the ultimate biscuit sandwich for breakfast? Combine two of their regular sandwiches into one! Simply order the chicken biscuit and have them add cheese and bacon with a side of ranch dressing. If you want to add an egg, please feel free!
Three Meat Hashbrown Bowl
The Waffle House has a “build your own” option for some of their regular menu items, giving you the creative freedom to combine anything that you want. So, for their hashbrown bowl, I have come up with the three meat version. There is a few different three meat varieties that you can choose from. My personal favorite would be bacon, ham, and sausage with an egg on top. Maybe some ranch dressing on the side, or a side of sausage gravy.
Smoked Ham and Bacon Omelet
Again, there is a build your own option, so this is mine. I would choose a 2 egg omelet with smoked ham, bacon, and cheese. Maybe add some jalapenos to give it a kick! For my side option, I would choose hashbrown and I would ask them to add some shredded cheese on top. I would also add Texas toast and a large glass of milk to complete my breakfast omelet.
Bacon and Cheese Sandwich
I love fixing grilled cheese and grilled ham and cheese sandwiches for my kids. But instead of ordering those classics at the Waffle House, why not ask them to add bacon? Order a grilled cheese sandwich on Texas toast and ask them to add 4 slices of bacon. If you wish, you can also add lettuce or tomatoes to your grilled bacon and cheese sandwich. Add a side of hashbrown or chili to make it the perfect lunch on a cool day.
Texas Angus Patty Melt with Bacon
Step up the already awesome flavors of the patty melt from the Waffle House by adding some crispy bacon. I would also add either jalapenos or maybe some mushrooms to boost the flavor to the next level and I would finish it off with a piece of their chocolate silk pie and a fountain drink.
Quarter Pound Angus Cheeseburger
On the Waffle House regular menu is a quarter-pound Angus hamburger. Make this your own way and add cheese, lettuce, tomato, and jalapeno. You could also go bold and order a double-quarter pound Angus cheeseburger. Add a side of chili or a salad and you have the best dinner to end your day.
Because their waffles at the Waffle House are so big, this would be a breakfast for two. Order 2 classic waffles, 4 fried (or sunny side up) eggs, and a side of country ham. When they bring your food, you can assemble your waffle sandwich. You can also ask them, while you are ordering if they can assemble this for you. Choose your favorite Waffle House syrup to top off this huge two-person waffle sandwich. Add a nice hot cup of coffee to wash it all down.
Pork Chop Dinner with Mushrooms
The Waffle House has some excellent choices on its classic dinner menu. Steak, ham, chicken, and more. I have chosen the Pork Chop Dinner, which comes with a choice of toast and hashbrowns. I would ask them to cook my pork chops with some mushrooms, for added flavor. You could choose to have them cooked in onions or you could order a side of eggs to go with your classic meal.
Steak and Eggs with Onions
If you are a big steak fan, like my wife, then adding a couple of sides to the classic steak dinner would be amazing. Have the Waffle House cook your steak to perfection with onions. Add some scrambled eggs on the side with raisin bread and hashbrowns with cheese. Top it off with coffee, orange juice, or a glass of milk.
