Sixlets Candy is a pack of small, round-shaped, colorful and chocolate-flavored candies that are made by Chocolat Frey which is a Canadian company. The candy is often packaged in cellophane tube-like wrappers and are available in a variety of colors including blue, orange, green, yellow, red, and brown.
The different colors of the candies lend special taste to the chocolate flavored candies. The company often releases special editions of the original Sixlets Candy for Easter, Valentine’s Day, Christmas and Halloween.
The Easter variation includes white, pink, and blue pieces while removing all other colors. The Valentine’s Day pack holds pink, white, and red candy. The Christmas Sixlets pack has red, green, and white. The Halloween version of Sixlets has purple, green, black, and teal for some spooky fun.

History of Sixlets Candy
Sixlets Candy has been a fan favorite for generations. These wonderfully colorful candies became popular since the 1960s and were initially produced by Leaf Brands. Leaf Brands also created another candy that was similar to Whoppers and came in the similar packing as Sixlets.
Although the similarity was there among the candies, Sixlets were far more popular among the public for their unique taste and bright shiny colors. Hershey purchased multiple operations of Leaf Inc. in 1996 such as Heath, Jolly Rancher, Milk Duds, Whoppers, and Sixlets after which Hershey Foods Corporation sub-licensed their rights to the Sixlets name to SweetWorks Confections LLC.
Many people remember the candy being sold in a machine similar to a bubble-gum machine. Although the candy is now sold in a variety of packaging, the most famous and memorable packing remains to be the eight-ball pack with a tubular cellophane wrapping. A six-ball cellophane pack for Sixlets Candy was also introduced in 2017 for a fun size snack option.
Where Does the Name Sixlets Come from?
Sixlets are a great candy-coated chocolate flavored treat option that comes in a variety of colors, each with their own zing of taste. The small size and unique flavor make the candy utterly delightful and a fun treat for anyone. It is believed that the name for the famous candy originates from its packaging since there were six candies initially in each pack.
Some candy enthusiasts have often wondered if the origins of the name have something to do with the number of colors the candy has to offer.
Different Flavors of Sixlets Candy
Many people feel that the Sixlets Candy is similar to M&Ms. Even though both candies have a candy-coated exterior, that’s where similarities between the two end. The chocolate inside the Sixlets Candy is a slightly more delicious version of what is inside an M&M – it’s a muted chocolate flavor that is rather nondescript, if that makes sense. I think you know what I mean!
Although this candy comes in a variety of different colors, the colors are just the outside shell coating and they do not taste different. In other words, even though there is a variety of colors, they all taste the same!
Taste of the Sixlets Candy
The Sixlets Candy can woo anyone with their delightful, sweet taste and delicious chocolate inside. Sixlets are melt-in-the-mouth delicious and can begin melting between your fingers if you pause for too long before popping them in your mouth. The small size makes them easy to carry and the perfect choice for candy-loving children and adults. The packaging of the Sixlets Candy features a caterpillar and a fun slogan calling consumers to “dig in”. With a friendly and welcoming invitation like that, who can resist trying a Sixlets?
