What Is Cry Baby Gum?

Cry baby gum is a sour bubble gum in America. It is manufactured by Tootsie Roll Industries. Cry baby candies, which are sometimes referred to as Tear Jerkers, were first produced in 1991. They are well known for their very sour taste. The candy has a sour coating, which disperses its infamous sour taste after some time of being chewed. The name ‘’Cry Baby” is because the candy is so sour that it causes a person’s eyes to water.

History of Cry Baby Gum

Cry Baby Gum was named by David Klien, the inventor of Jelly Belly Jelly beans. These were initially produced in 1991 by the Philadelphia chewing gum corporation in Havertown, Pennsylvania. 

The brand was later bought by its current manufacturer, Tootsie Roll Industries. Cry Baby has always been the flagship & leading sour gum, loved by the masses despite having other competitors.
