Pizza Hut is an American restaurant chain founded in 1958 in Wichita, Kansas by brothers Dan and Frank Carney. A friend of theirs gave them the idea of opening a pizza parlor. They decided to go for it and borrowed $600 from their mom to start the business with a third partner, John Bender.
The restaurant specializes in the usual things you find at a pizza place – pasta, pizza, salads and desserts. It has become a global, international franchise over the years with massive growth. And at the end of 2019, it had 18,703 restaurants worldwide!
That makes it the world’s largest pizza chain based on number of locations. Pizza Hut is a subsidiary of Yum Brands, which is one of the largest restaurant companies and owns many companies you know and love, including KFC, Taco Bell, and even the Habit Burger Grill.
The one thing about Pizza Hut’s secret menu is that it is much more hit or miss compared to say the Starbucks Secret Menu or In-N-Out’s Secret Menu.
What do we mean exactly, you might be wondering?
You might have to explain the secret menu item in detail and how to make it. It’s not like if you request “animal style” at In-N-Out – every person working the counter will know what you mean.
So, you might get a funny look and might have to explain it – just a heads up.

Our Favorite Items from the Pizza Hut Secret Menu
Triple Deckeroni Pizza
In the 1990’s, Pizza Hut had a Triple Deckeroni Pizza on the menu. It was an instant hit.
So, what was on this pizza you are probably wondering?
It was a layered creation consisting of:
- A thin base crust
- Layer of cheese and pepperoni
- A thin base crust
- Layer of cheese and pepperoni
As you might expect, all pepperoni pizza lovers LOVED this pizza. It had tons of calories, fat, cheese and of course pepperoni.
Oh yeah and in case you’re wondering, we only counted 2 layers too – so we are not sure where the “triple” came from in the title but it’s good marketing hype for sure!
Pizza Hut aficionados consider it to be one of the best things they have ever had on the menu.
It has not been on the menu for decades, but at some locations you might be able to still order it.
To order – you will have to explain the details. And they will probably charge you for two thin crust pizzas since that is basically what this is.
Vegan Pizza
When most Americans think of pizza, they tend to think of pepperoni and a meat based pizza. But all three of the basic crusts – the thin, pan and hand tossed crusts are vegan friendly.

So if you are vegan you can choose any of those with the marinara sauce and then add veggies as toppings.
And then you will have a vegan pizza!
(Be sure to hold the cheese of course because that is not vegan)
Hot Dog Stuffed Crust
If you love hot dogs, can you imagine them stuffed insight your pizza crust?
In the past, this Hot Dog Stuffed Crust has been part of the internal regular Pizza Hut menu in the past, in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, South Korea, China, and Japan.
It is also known as the “Hot Dog Bites Pizza.”
This is definitely going to be one of the most difficult secret menu items to be successful with. We know a few people who have been lucky to have this made. But expect to have to explain it and also expect that you will probably get a funny look and a no response. But if you love hot dogs, it’s worth a shot!

Pepperoni Stuffed Crust
One thing Pizza Hut is famous for is its stuffed crust on their pizzas which is what makes them stand out among other Pizza chains. Cool factoid – this stuffed crust originally debuted on the menu in 1995!
Usually this stuff crust consists of the crust with some cheese.
But…if you are reading this you probably LOVE pepperoni too, right? So ask for the pepperoni stuffed crust secret menu item and they will bake some of the pepperoni into the crust.

Heart-Shaped Pizza
Often in February around Valentine’s Day, many pizza restaurants offer some cute heart shaped pizza.
In theory, you can order these cute pizza shapes all year round. Pizza Hut pizzas are made to order so you can ask for a heart-shaped pizza.
